East Carolina Road Racing was founded in 1999 by James Orr and Kip Sloan as a way to help organize and promote running events in Greenville, NC. Since then, we have grown to assist events throughout Eastern NC. We are all current or past runners with a desire to help grow the sport in our community.

We not only assist with scoring and timing, but also have founded and organized numerous events in Eastern North Carolina.

Our Team

James Orr is an avid runner and enjoys racing in 5K events when he is not scoring them. His 5K PR is 17:02. In a1999, he directed his first race and since then, has founded several area events, including the Habitat Home Run. He specializes in providing accurate and quick results for races. Other than running, James enjoys spending time fishing and on the water.

Kip Sloan is a former marathoner and bicycle racer who has organized numerous events in the area over the past 20 years, including running races, bike races and multi-sport events. Kip currently organizes and scores race, as well as designing many of the courses in the area. Kip enjoys cycling, swimming, motorcycling and photography.
